I was getting so bored with the bowl of "fruit" that we usually have on our dining room table. I say "fruit" because it's all fake. It looks good, but I needed a change. Valentine's Day gave me a prefect excuse and a great idea for changing up the centerpiece.
I used a serving platter and candlesticks that I already had tucked away, and I bought a big bag of conversation hearts to scatter around the platter. Presto, change-o, new centerpiece!
The only problem is that everyone in the house wants to eat the conversation hearts. I joked that I could do like nail-biters do, only instead of that nasty lacquer, I could just spray the hearts with hairspray or something equally foul-tasting. I'm hoping the threat is sufficient, though, and I won't have to resort to ruining the candy.
